The main different between the two types of frames is the type of material that is used to form the backing, A float frame is characterized by two pieces of glass, allowing the wall behind your blooms to be the background of the finished piece. It's important to note that we'll need to be very mindful of the thickness of the blooms/inclusions added to float frames, as any undue pressure on the glass will compromise the integrity of this more delicate frame. A traditional backed frame, on the other hand, uses a solid backing material behind the flowers. We traditionally use a heavy stock off-white watercolor paper for the backing, but we're open to customizing it with a variety of colors and fabrics (just ask us!). The thickness of the blooms matter a bit less in this type of frame, and certain designs lend themselves to the robustness of the frame (i.e., we often suggest that our stemmed bouquet and maximalist river designs go for a backed frame). As a whole, float frames offer a modern, minimalist aesthetic, while traditional backed frames often create a more classic, finished look.
